New Sparcstation 10 on the way

5/21/2010 9:08 AM

Not sure what I'll be doing with it, but I've got a Sparc 10 that I should be taking home today. I'm also not totally sure what's in it, but I think it's at least working. Honestly, if it has a working VRAM chip, that will be enough! I'm tired of having to reset the one in my SS20 every time I unplug the thing.

The new box is free, and I think I'll also be getting some SBUS cards, a couple of SCSI drives, some RAM sticks, and another Type 5 keyboard.

More when I get it home and catalogued.

Got the SS10 today. It came with two processors, two disks, looks like 64MB RAM, a 10/100 ethernet card, a Sun Type 5 keyboard, two spare 4.5GB SCA drives, and another 4 spare RAM cards. It doesn't have a frame buffer in it.

I think I'll just hook up a terminal to it and see if it boots, which will tell me if the VRAM is still good, how much memory it's got, and how fast the processors are.

Then I can determine whether to use it or part it out.
