As I've said elsewhere in the community, I really like CP/M. When I was using my first computer, a TRS-80 Model I, I really wanted to have a CP/M machine but couldn't afford one.

Now I can!

Kaypros are still pretty reasonably priced on eBay, so on a lark, I purchased one; a Kaypro 4.

It came last week, and I think one of the floppies devloped a problem in transit. The picture above is my machine, which came with much of the original software.

Because I want to restore this thing back to original, or as close as I can get to it, I bought another one for parts, and it's on its way.

The Kaypro 4 is one of the last Z-80, CP/M machines Kaypro built. It runs at 4MHz and has 64KB of RAM and two full-height, DSDD drives (390K). It runs CP/M 2.2, and came with Wordstar and a few other applications. Later versions of the Kaypro 4 had two half-height DSDD drives.

I'm really looking forward to getting Vedit, Aztec C and Pascal MT+ running on floppy on the machine. I'm also looking forward to getting some games running and showing the machine at local retro computing shows.

This will be a fun project!
