Things have been lagging here, and there have been some technical problems. And unfortunately, nothing much will happen for the next week, either.
The server appears to be in pretty good shape, and is working fine, but something is wrong with the networking. Now I'm sure I'm at fault here. I have a business cable network feed from Cox, but I pay extra for static IP addresses, so I only have two. There are maybe 15 networked computers in my house of various varieties, and three different wireless networks, and four switches. And the wiring is a total rat's nest.
Don't ask, and besides, you're probably right - I could do a lot better than this. And that's what I will do in a week after I get back from a road trip: take it all apart, and put it back together again, but neatly and all documented. Then maybe I'll have a reliable network, or if not, I'll be better prepared to troubleshoot.
On the other hand, I've got the little lab set up reasonably well with a couple of tables (the biggest is a hollow core door over a pair of saw horses), and plenty of books and reference material handy. It's in a quiet spot in a spare bedroom, so I can have some personal time there. The Kaypro 4 is set up there as well as the SVR4 box, wyvern.
Now all I need is some time at home to get in there and play. And to fix the network, of course.
