I mentioned a while back that I was working on cleaning up all the computer junk I have laying around, and I've completed a lot of it. Now for the last part: the network.
Read on for more...
This system and all my older systems live on several networks in my house. There's a public network (the one this server lives on), three wireless networks (don't ask :), and a wired private network.
Today there are a gaggle of switches and hubs connecting all this stuff together, some quite old, but tomorrow everything will be wired up to a 24 port managed layer 2 gigabit switch. A D-Link DGS-3024.

This thing is more modern than anything I've got today, supporting wire speed on all ports so that I can have my old 10baseT equipment coexisting peacefully with my 100 and 1000baseT stuff. What's more, I can use VLANs to segment my traffic if I want.
This is a really nice switch and will help me to clean up my network and wiring in a big way.
