Significant nor'easter this week with high winds (60mph) and heavy rains for a couple of days. Major flooding throughout the Hampton Roads region.
Flooding and wind causes a lot of downed trees, which in turn caused many power outages. My home and this server are out in the country, and we are usually the first to get the power outages, but this time it took quite a while, and the one outage was less than a second, but enough to bring down the server, which did not automatically restart. It took me a few hours to realize it was down.
Rebooting was no problem, but it highlighted a couple of real problems:
1. Why didn't it auto start? Have to look at the bios settings to figure this one out.
2. Why don't I have a UPS on this thing? Right. I do have one, but the batteries are toast. I'll buy some more batteries and get it up and running as soon as I can.
